A fantastic place to visit. The estate has lots of attractions and walks. Parking is free and access to most things is free, the house tour is charged for. There is also a visitor centre, cafe and toilets. You can easily spend a whole day here and probably still not see everything. I have been multiple times and still find new things to see. Very highly recommended. Update - I have now done the house tour. It is really interesting and informative and good value. Book online in advance to avoid disappointment. Update - I have now had an overnight stay in the Lodge. It was superb from start to finish. The room was amazing, the staff were faultless and dinner and breakfast in the Lodge restaurant were excellent.

A fantastic place to visit for something free to do. The grounds are amazing to explore, my favourite being the veg garden, I love seeing all the beautiful produce they grow to use in their café. The grounds are free to walk is dog friendly. There is a fantastic park for kids and the engineering park is great for big kids a like. The house is not free to visit but please check on the website for details on this. But if you are looking for something to do as a family this is an ideal place, we tend to extend our day and walk with a 1 mile trail to the Barony A Frame and back again

Poor customer service in the cafe. Lovely grounds but tainted by poor service and rude cashiers. Definitely won't be going back in the cafe again.

NOT DOG FRIENDLY IN CAFÉ. You can't order food without going inside. There is no table service. I enjoy taking the lovely walks around, but I can't go into the café to order food because my dogs are with me. They only allow dogs in the outdoor eating area, and they don’t offer table service. I can't leave my dogs tied up outside, as there’s no safe way to do so. Additionally, I have a nervous dog that can't be left alone. As a result, when I'm out with my dogs myself, I literally can't get anything to eat when I'm here. They're just missing out on customers as I would have bought something to eat and some ice cream for my dogs.

It’s great for kids - just a word of warning, the maze is always closed in the four years we’ve been visiting

I have been going to Dumfries house for almost a year now, and I don't think I've been around the whole estate yet. I attend most Tuesdays for stroke rehabilitation, and the gardens are beautiful in the spring and summer months. Their is so much to see and do for all the family.

The Estate was quiet due to the high winds from the ongoing storm that was hitting Scotland that day but the sun was still shining and we had a lovely meal in the coffee shop. The grounds were looking beautiful in their Autumnal colours enjoyed walking through the estate

Beautiful grounds particularly with autumn colours. Walled garden amazing as well as the Chinese Bridge. Grounds immaculately kept by only 8 gardeners. Staff excellent and welcoming. Onsite cafe first class. Only downside was the entrance fee for the house - £19.50 per person. Decided not to go inside!

Lovely walks but expensive for any sandwiches or meals. We sat outside the cafe with our dog as you cannot take your pet inside so if you have a dog make sure it will be a dry day.
